True American is a brand that embodies heritage, resilience, and cultural pride. Inspired by my birthplace, Guatemala, this brand is dedicated to honoring my Mayan ancestors and serves as a tribute to indigenous identity and strength. As a proud descendant of a Mayan family, I strive to carry forward a legacy that has endured centuries of oppression, erasure, and survival.

Our mission is to create opportunities within the fashion industry for indigenous creators and others who have historically faced exclusion. We seek to demonstrate that indigenous individuals are not only talented and creative but also innovative and entrepreneurial. We assert our rightful place in all sectors—including fashion—and advocate for our visibility, voice, and respect.

For over five centuries, colonization has endeavored to erase our languages, traditions, and identities. The land we inhabit was appropriated, and even the designation of our continent—America—has been co-opted, resulting in native peoples feeling marginalized on their own soil. True Americans reclaim this identity, representing the original inhabitants of this land and affirming that we, too, are Americans.

Our brand symbolizes unity, cultural pride, and the celebration of diversity. It serves as a platform to inspire indigenous youth and other underrepresented communities to pursue their aspirations without limitations. Through our designs and narratives, we challenge outdated perceptions and empower individuals to recognize their rightful place in any industry or domain they choose.

True American also serves as a tribute to all immigrants. Migration has always been an integral aspect of our indigenous heritage—a natural and intentional journey to explore, learn, and grow. This spirit of movement and resilience continues to resonate within me. Since childhood, I have aspired to explore the world and share my culture with a broader audience.
